With over 450 screen roles and more than 25 theatrical productions to her credit, we can safely say Adrienne Barbeau is a legend in film, television, and theater. Her iconic roles in so many horror films made her a target for our first Washington State Horror Con from October 25th through the 27th in Puyallup.
Adrienne Jo Barbeau is actress and author best known for her numerous and iconic roles in horror films and her portrayal of Carol Traynor for six years on the sitcom Maude.
Early on in her career, she starred in Someone’s Watching Me!, The Fog and Escape from New York, all John Carpenter-related projects. She has collaborated with George A. Romero on occasion, such as Stephen King’s anthology Creepshow and Two Evil Eyes. Her work with other horror directors includes Wes Craven’s superhero monster movie Swamp Thing. In the 2000s, she appeared on the HBO series Carnivàle as Ruthie.
During the 1990s, she became best known for providing the voice of Catwoman on Batman: The Animated Series. She was the original tough-girl Betty Rizzo in the first Broadway production of Grease. She is the author of the memoir There Are Worse Things I Can Do, and the comedy romance vampire novels Vampyres of Hollywood, Love Bites and Make Me Dead.
Barbeau was cast in numerous television films and series such as The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Valentine Magic on Love Island, and Battle of the Network Stars.
Of note, she appeared in the Burt Reynolds comedy The Cannonball Run, and as the shrewish wife of Rodney Dangerfield’s character in Back to School. Barbeau also starred in the comedy Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death. In 1999, she guest starred in a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode as Romulan Senator Kimara Cretak.
