Traci Lords has carved a notable niche in horror cinema with roles that showcase her versatility and intensity. She starred as the seductive vampire Racquel in the 1998 action-horror blockbuster Blade, captivating audiences alongside Wesley Snipes. Her portrayal of the domineering mother Phyllis in the 2012 Sundance premiered Excision earned critical acclaim, including a Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Transitioning to broader acclaim, Lords' most popular credits include her breakout as the rebellious Wanda Woodward in John Waters' 1990 cult comedy Cry-Baby, opposite Johnny Depp, which remains one of her most iconic roles. She brought humor and edge as Bubbles in Kevin Smith's 2008 hit Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

Her other acting credits included the television series MacGyver, Married... with Children, Tales from the Crypt, Roseanne, Melrose Place, Profiler, First Wave, Highlander: The Series, Gilmore Girls, and Will & Grace. She also appeared in films such as Skinner (1993), Virtuosity (1995).

Lords’ influence extended beyond film, particularly within the fanzine culture, where she became an icon for zinesters, horror enthusiasts, and sci-fi fans alike. Voodoo Baby, a publication that explored the worlds of horror and cult cinema.

Lords pursued music in addition to her film career. After her song "Love Never Dies" was featured on the soundtrack to the film Pet Sematary Two (1992).
