If you have portrayed Jason Vorhees, Swamp Thing, and a Predator, then we need you at our first Horror convention. Please welcome actor and stuntman, Derek Mears to the Washington State Horror Con from October 25th through the 27th in Puyallup.
Recently, Derek was cast in the title role of the DC Universe Swamp Thing series. Derek came to prominence for portraying Jason Voorhees in the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th. His film roles also include The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007), Predators (2010), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013), and Alita: Battle Angel (2019). On television, he played the title character on the DC Universe series Swamp Thing (2019).
Other films on his resume include The Demolitionist (1995), Men in Black II (2002), Signs (2002), The Haunted Mansion (2003), Cursed (2005), two of the Pirates of the Caribbean films (2003 and 2006), World Trade Center (2006), and The Hills Have Eyes II (2007) and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Derek was cast in Hatchet III, Grimm as Krampus, and as Dwarfstar in The Flash.
Mears’ also appeared in several television series such as V.I.P. (1999), ER (2000), Alias (2001), Charmed, Angel, C.S.I. New York, and My Name is Earl, Nash Bridges, The Shield, and CSI Miami.
Mears has numerous credits both as a stuntman and as a jobbing actor. His stunt credits include the films Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Blades of Glory, and TV series such as Angel and Bones.
