Doug Jones is one of the most accomplished and recognizable creature performers and character actors working today. Often described as this generation’s Lon Chaney & Boris Karloff, his career spans over 30 years across film, television and stage.
Fans will remember Doug for his work as The Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, as Abe Sapien in both Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and as the unforgettable dual roles of Pan and The Pale Man in Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning Pan’s Labyrinth. He learned all of his lines for the film in Spanish, working from a specially prepared bilingual script.
Doug teamed up with del Toro once more to bring an original story to life in the Academy Award-winning The Shape of Water. He also stars as the infamous Count Orlok in the remake of the classic Nosferatu.
On the small screen, Doug is beloved for his role as Captain Saru in Star Trek: Discovery and can be seen in What We Do in the Shadows. His earlier television work includes Falling Skies, Teen Wolf, Fear Itself, The Neighbours, and perhaps most ironically, the lead Gentleman in the Emmy-nominated “Hush” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Another fan favorite is the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus, in which Doug plays the loveable zombie Billy Butcherson, a role he reprised in Hocus Pocus 2. His earliest comic book appearance was alongside Danny DeVito as a circus clown in Batman Returns.
A feature-length documentary about Doug’s life and career, Get Me Doug Jones, is currently in production, directed by William Conlin and produced by Coolwaters Productions.
